Coastal Road Trip

Peter hired a Mustang Convertible for us to drive down to LA along the coastal road. Avis Car Rental was in the same street as our hotel, so in the morning we checked out and walked across the road to the rental company. Peter and I checked the car and we were on our way. We did intend to drive to the beach in San Francisco, but decided to head straight coast. We should have gone to the beach and followed the beach road down. Next time!
We took the Cabrillo Hwy to Pacifica then drove through the Tom Lantos Tunnels to the Devils Slide Trail. The coastline was just spectacular.
There are two bunkers at the Devils Slide Trail,

This was one of the bunkers.
Devils Slide Trail.
We took heaps of photos of the car - and we saw so many Mustangs on the coastal road.
Pillar Point RV Park. We saw many RV parks along the beaches.
We turned away from the coast at Half Moon Bay.
Jonnie wanted to see the Computer Museum at Mountain View.
We travelled up San Mateo Road and went past Sun Studios.
It's an indoor / outdoor shop that has all these sculptures and ornaments on display along the road.
At the San Mateo Road / Skyline Boulevard intersection, there is a lookout. Peter found this lovely piece of cut wood at the picnic area. If we could have fitted it in our bags - and if we thought customs would let it into Australia, we would have packed it.
 The view from the lookout.
Sorry, another car picture :)
We then went on the Half Moon Bay Road to Junipero Serra Freeway to Mountain View and the Computer Museum.

Make voyages! Attempt them… there’s nothing else.

  1. Wow, that looks like fun, driving along in a Mustang. And on the other side of the road as well!
