Theodore Queensland

The town of Theodore was designed by Walter Burley Griffen - designer of Canberra - although we couldn't see and resemblance. We had planned on staying here the night at Junction Park (free 48hr camp), but it was pretty full, so we went down to the recreation ground, and that was also fairly full, so we decided to keep going to Dawson Creek near Moura.
Theodore is famous as Queensland only community co-operatively owned hotel. It is a relatively new town in Australia's history and had its beginnings in 1922, when a major irrigation project was started. The establishment of a town was approved in 1925. It was originally called Castle Creek, but was later re-named Theodore after the Queensland State Premier - Ted Theodore.
