Live Long and Prosper - Vulcan, Alberta.

We are Trekkies. No need to say anything else :)
When Peter found a town called Vulcan on Google maps not too far from Calgary, we knew we had to go there.
We have a Star Trek room at home which doubles as the spare bedroom. We also have a poster that states:-
ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LIFE
I LEARNT FROM STAR TREK!! *

First stop was the tourist information centre.
*Seek out new life and new civilisations.
Outside is a monument to Gene Roddenberry.
"He is not really dead, as long as we remember him."
The Wrath of Khan.
This planter is just outside the front door.
The inside of the Information Centre is like a Star Trek museum. The staff are so well versed in Star Trek, we spent more than an hour there talking to staff and visitors about Star Trek.
*There is no such thing as a Vulcan death grip.
There is a section of the centre that has clothes to try on and cut out figures to take photos beside. So cool!
 *Set phasers on stun.
Jonnie even found a transporter.
We next went to the Trekcetera Museum.
This was an interesting display of not only (but mainly) Star Trek, but also a collection of original artefacts from movies that have been made in the area. The owner Michael, was very informative and told us so much about the movies in the area.
This is the cape worn by Christopher Reeves in Superman 3 - filmed in Calgary.
The first room has a looped video of the different movies displayed, including Brokeback Mountain and The Titanic.
So interesting.
The rest of the museum is all Star Trek.
We spent almost two hours in this small museum.
Two hours well spent!
We then had a walk around he town of Vulcan.
Everywhere we could see reference to Star Trek.
*Non interference is the Prime Directive.
*Having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting,
it is illogical but it is often true.
Leonard Nimoy had visited Vulcan and was impressed with what he saw. He continued his encouragement of the area up until his death.
 *Humans are highly illogical.
Even the street sign have reference to Star Trek.
Jonnie found another transporter while walking down the street.
The 'Doctors' Wall
We finished the day in Vulcan with lunch back at  the Information Centre. What a great day - well worth a visit.
