Calgary

We stayed near the airport, so were about 15 minutes from the city. What we saw of Calgary was quiet and certainly not busy.
Calgary was named after Calgary in Scotland, and is situated on the Bow River. We didn't have a lot of time to explore, but we did drive into the city on Canada Day - July 1.
There were streets beginning to be closed for Canada Day festivities and it was raining very lightly, and there were not many people walking around. Even the number of Canadian Flags were few - so different to Victoria and Vancouver, where everywhere one looked you could see flags.
The big event in Calgary every year is the Calgary Stampede.
We drove around the park, which is not far from the city.
Like the other cities and towns we have visited in Canada, there are many statues and street art.
This one was particularly interesting.
This is the interior of our hire car - almost like a mini bus :)

I dislike feeling at home when I am abroad.
