Hey, it's Hay.

After leaving Marsden's Rest we headed through West Wyalong and towards Griffith.  We had been told by another traveller that it was a quicker way to get to Hay.  I don't think so!  Won't be going that way again any time soon.

We drove through a town called Barilla. Saw this BIG tennis racquet. Kept Driving!

Arrived in Hay after going through a fruit fly protection area just before Griffith,  where we stopped to eat our tomatoes, capsicum,  bananas,  and apples. Arrived in Hay and had a look at the free camp area, decided to stay, so went back to town and bought 1 tomato and three bananas (we knew we would be going through another fruit fly area tomorrow).

We had read about Sandy Point in Wikicamps and had heard from other campers about how good it was. It was great. It is walking distance from the main street - for those inclined - and is right on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, one of the major rivers to contribute to the Murray/Darling river system.

There were so many vans there it was almost like a caravan park. Shady areas and heaps of space with clean toilets and cold outside showers.  The picnic area had free gas bbqs and plenty of tables and chairs under cover.

The Murrumbidgee.

It was so hot there but the water was so cold. Jonnie and I were going to go for a swim, but decided against it.

A cold drink, a catch up with FACEBOOK,  and a play with the blocks I bought yesterday.

I love holidays.
