..and the extreme weather continues...

Woke up to another hot morning. Headed off to Nundle to see the historic gold mining area - another story for another day - had a lovely time until the storm started......

It was about 5pm, we had just finished exploring the area and we were chatting on the phone to DD1 when it started to rain - very big drops. Then it stopped. so we headed back to Tamworth - about 50 klms. We could see the storm behind us and the lightning all around us. No thunder, just lightning and lots of wind.
We needed to get back to the van park - quick!

It was very hard to get a photo of the wind. The poor cows had trouble standing and the trees were bending almost to the ground. There was debris, branches and dust blowing across the road. At one stage we thought we may have to find shelter and stop.

There was lightning all around us.

We knew the storm was heading to Tamworth and we had left the annexe windows slightly opened to let the air in, so we needed to get back to the van park.

We got back as it was raining. There were bins knocked over all over the park and branches down. The van next door had packed away his awning as the wind was lifting it, even though we had tired it down during yesterdays storm - today the storm was bigger. Our front awning had blown down and we had to move all of DS bedding just in case the rain came in.

Again the storm didn't last very long. Once the rain and wind stopped we went out and fixed the verandah ad the awning, and put everything back the way it should be. We had a very cool and peaceful evening.

What may happen tomorrow :)
