Pacific Encounter - Balcony Cabin 12408

Early this month we went on a cruise to Airlie Beach and Cairns. This is the guaranteed balcony cabin we booked. We were surprised to see we were mid ship.

This a typical balcony cabin on Encounter.

A cabin for three is two lower singles and one upper bunk. The upper bunk is dropped down from the ceiling. The one lower single looked a bit wonky but was very comfortable.

TV is located above the cooler fridge. The shelf has bottles of water that can be purchased. The fridge in this cabin was very cold. One hack is to leave the outer wooden door of the cabinet slightly open. We have only had to do that once, on a Princess ship and we used a face washer to keep the door slightly open.

This cabin automatically had the door 'jammed' to keep it open, and the fridge was very cold.

The desk came in handy for preparing snacks from the Pantry and the chair was quite comfortable. There were two bedside lamps next to the bottom beds and a small light on the upper bunk.

The lamp on my side had a USB connection that didn't work and the lamp only worked sometimes. We did let the cabin steward know. Luckily the desk had Australian powerpoints and we plugged our own USB into that, and it reached the bed.

Now the balcony. The door was a little stiff but worked ok other than that. The outside window was quite dirty. It looked like coffee had been splashed on it. Halfway through the cruise it was cleaned.

The balcony had two chairs and a small table.

The cabin looked over the balconies of the cabins below.

The bathroom is like all other bathrooms in this category. I really don't like the shower curtains.
The bathroom is compact but has lots of areas and shelves to put things. The hot water was hot and the toilet worked well.
There is liquid soap at the basin and shower gel and shampoo in the shower. I take a little bottle of conditioner.
The muster station C is located on deck 7 near the Encounter Hotel. This is on the back of the cabin door.
The cabin is midship on the port side.
Of concern was the drop down bunk bed which blocks the doorway into the room. However, it didn't seem to be a problem.
We had a great cruise and have another one booked.
