Maaroom, Queensland.

On our winter road trip, heading up to the tropics and the warmth, well warmer than Brisbane anyway. We had a few days at the beach and while heading to our next destination we took a detour to a 'fishing boat ramp' and found this lovely little village. There is no school, didn't appear to be any medical facility, it doesn't even have a shop, although there may be some limited groceries in the caravan park. The closest town is Maryborough, about 20 km away, so not too far for a weekly shop. We stayed a few nights in Maryborough.

At the boat ramp there is a lovely playground and picnic/bbq facitities with what looks like a kids bike track. There was also evidence of kangaroo poo, and a smell.

We didn't see a beach, and the tide was out when we were there but it is a great place to fish or to go out in a boat.

Maaroom is a tiny fishing village, one of a few we passed that day, that lies on the Great Sandy Strait fish habitat wetlands with views across to Fraser Island - K'gari

After lunch we had a drive around the streets to look at the old and the new homes there. Surprisingly there didn't appear to be many holiday houses, but there were some beautiful homes. There were some quirky letter boxes and garden decorations.
