Chinchilla Queensland

OUR OUTBACK QUEENSLAND TRIP

Our first stop was for lunch at Dalby. We have been here before, so knew where to pull up.
The park on the main highway, where the information centre is located is a good place to stop for lunch. Plenty of tables and shade.

We went on a little walk around the gardens after lunch. Then kept heading west towards Chinchilla.

I had been told about the free camping at Chinchilla Weir by a colleague, and gee we are glad we found out. We arrived in Chinchilla just after 3pm and bought a cooked chook for dinner. We then headed about 8km towards Tara to the weir.
There were already a large number of vans set up. You pay $10 for power and there are two power boards, each with room for 8 vans at the weir. We are self sufficient, so didn't worry about power, although we were very close to one of the poles. Didn't take long to pull out the awning and get a drink.

 View from our van.

Our van, just on the inside of the sign that says no camping beyond here.
After here is a boat ramp and a ski club. There were water skiers and canoes on the weir.
It was a very peaceful night, and we will return.

Next day - on the long and not windy road.

Loving holidays
Allison
